Credit Hire Pre litigation collections handler

Location: Uxbridge

Role Purpose:

To function as handler within the pre litigation team overseeing aged debt reviews and considering prospects with a view to settlement or on boarding the client and instructing panel solicitors.

To effectively negotiate settlement of credit hire, storage and recovery invoices pre-litigation in house and identify those claims suitable for litigation. On occasions make recommendations for w/off where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Confident negotiation with third parties to achieve successful settlement results.
• Application of the ABI GTA, relevant case law and credit hire principles to settle cases
• Strong ability to be able to assess prospects of success for credit hire and S&R claims, to include assessments on liability disputes.
• Good working knowledge of BHR reports.
• Strong organisation in managing your own time and caseload.
• Pro-actively make outbound calls to insurers to discuss cases and agree settlement terms.
• Comprehensively review and appraise cases prior to escalating to your line manager for litigation.
• The ability to assess impecuniosity and the appropriate evidence.
• Strong client care skills to gather appropriate evidence and on-board clients for litigation.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

Essential Skills:

• Credit hire experience essential.
• Strong knowledge of the ABI/GTA
• Strong overall RTA experience to assess liability and indemnity issues.
• Working knowledge of the MIB and relevant agreements
• Excellent telephone manner
• Confident negotiator
• Good organisational skills, strong ability to prioritise and high attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Has a working knowledge of Word/Excel/Outlook and case management systems?
• Numeracy skills to be able to understand and effectively settle our credit hire invoices.
• Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues.
• Have a ‘can do’ attitude and an ability to think ‘outside the box.’
