Technical Business Analyst

Location: This is a flexible, hybrid role and can be based from any of our offices in Manchester, Stoke, Southport and Peterborough.

We also have largely remote working options available.

This role sits within out IT Operations department.

Responsible for the successful delivery of Technical Business Analysis Services to Programmes, Projects, Small Changes and other initiatives, to support the business in meeting its objectives and goals through the delivery of Change, working closely with our delivery teams and/or partners to derive suitable solution options.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Deliver Technical Business Analysis Service Offerings to relevant Technology Domains to support Programmes, Projects, Small Changes and other prioritised changes, typically within a delivery team, including (but not limited to):

  • Impact Assessment

Identify and document the Systems, functionality, Services and where relevant business processes that are (or may be) impacted by a Change

Support the Feasibility (inception) process by identifying the value proposition, key potential outcomes and costs

  • Requirements Elicitation and management

Work with identified stakeholders to elaborate on their business needs to best align to the impacted systems, from a functional and non-functional perspective to a detailed level

Use appropriate tools and techniques to capture and document those requirements / user stories, that meet the needs of impacted parties (internal and external)

Work closely with Change teams and Delivery Teams to derive suitable solution options

Ensure requirements / user stories are aligned with business objectives and are prioritised accordingly

Ensure traceability of requirements / user stories throughout the lifecycle of an initiative so that the solution meets the original business need

  • Delivery

Contribution to the lifecycle of user stories, ensuring they are thoroughly understood by the delivery team

Bridging the gap between business users and technical teams

  • Process Improvement

Where necessary, model ‘As-Is’ and future state ‘To-Be’ business processes,

Where necessary, undertake analysis of business processes, providing recommendations for their improvement

  • Change Strategy Support

Contribute to feasibility assessment, options assessment and request for information (RFI) and invitation to tender processes

Stakeholder Management

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure full engagement in the business analysis and business requirement elicitation process, resolving conflict as and when required.

Able to bridge the gap between technical and business stakeholders.

Processes & Controls

Maintain awareness of industry best practice methods, tools and techniques, and recommend changes to existing analysis processes where appropriate

Collaborate with key internal and external delivery teams to ensure their ways of working are efficient and effective

Contribute to the adherence to team quality standards via internal auditing and peer review

Contribute to our Agile processes to ensure a high standard of delivery

Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Experience working as a Business Analyst in a professional IT environment or in an equivalent role in a change delivery context
  • Strives to work with and contribute to existing analysis processes. Naturally curious about acquiring new knowledge and best practice
  • Demonstrates competency in Change Delivery skills
  • Experience of and involvement in the entire project lifecycle and using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Workshop facilitation skills for requirements gathering analysis and product backlog refinement.
  • Business Process mapping, analysis, definition of workarounds etc.
  • Demonstrates a variety of techniques to create, refine, split and map User Stories
  • Excellent organisation, personal and project planning skills
  • Ability to build & maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel
  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to deliver
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple change projects/incidents or change activities simultaneously
  • Commitment to quality and a professional approach to work
  • Logical and analytical mind-set
  • Detailed knowledge of how to effectively use Microsoft office packages, including Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio, Outlook
  • Experience of using Jira or similar Agile delivery tools

Preferred

  • Experience of creating UML design documentation, more specifically use case scenarios and process modelling
  • Experience of and knowledge of BPMN or other industry standard process modelling techniques
  • Industry standard BA qualification
  • Knowledge of Financial Services/Insurance Industry
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud, and platform engineering/DevOps
